|General Location||ABOUT DOLAN SPRINGS: Dolan Springs is a small town in the northwest of Arizona. The region was originally home to the Hualapai Indian Tribe, who still live on the Hualapai Indian Reservation east of Dolan Springs. The first European settlers came in the 1850s to establish a Mormon church. The area was eventually sold to a developer in 1958, who subdivided the land and created the current town. Today, Dolan Springs is home to approximately 3,000 people. The area is squeezed between two mountain ranges and houses several stunning natural parks, with 54% of the total area designated as BLM (Bureau of Land Management) land. The larger mountain range, the Cerbat Mountains, contains the Mount Tipton Wilderness Area and the Pinnacles (needlelike granitic projections left by erosion). About 60 miles to the north of Dolan Springs is Lake Mead, a lake full of bass, catfish and trout with 550 miles of shoreline (see images). ABOUT MT. TIPTON WILDERNESS AREA According to the Dolan Springs Area Plan, "the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) in their Desert Act of 1990 created the Mt. Tipton Wilderness area. In the area you can find Lower Indian Springs, Upper Indian Springs, Juniper Canyon, Antelope Springs and the Cerbat Range. Peregrine Falcons have been seen in the vicinity of the Pinnacles. There are some old jeep trails and several hiking and horseback trails to be found. Dolan Springs is a paradise for those who enjoy hiking, hunting, horseback riding, rockhounding, prospecting and fishing at Lake Mead."|
