The San Luis Valley is one of the highest and largest intermountain valleys in the world. Bordered on East by the Sangre De Cristo Mountains and the West by the San Juan Mountains, you will find a multitude of historical, cultural and recreational activities. It is one of the nation’s largest potato producing areas, and also produces a lot of barley and hay. If you drink beer brewed in Colorado (either Coors or Bud), chances are good the barley it was brewed from was grown in the San Luis Valley.
The Rio Grande River is located just west of this property. Recreation and sightseeing: Hunting (Trinchera Ranch – some of the best elk and deer hunting in the state), Lake Fishing (Smith Reservoir, Mountain Home Reservoir, Sanchez Reservoir), Gold Medal River Fishing (Rio Grande River between Del Norte and South Fork), Skiing/Snowboarding (Taos Ski Valley in New Mexico), Mountain Climbing (Blanca Peak at 14,344 ft elevation), Hiking (Great Sand Dunes National Park, Zapata Falls, Alamosa Wildlife Refuge, Rio Grande National Forest).
